How to delete Autorun.inf virus?

Thursday, July 07, 2011

Anu

Once it happened to a friend of mine, when his newly bought laptop was infected with this autorun.inf virus. This virus corrupted almost all the drives on the Hard disk, and when ever he tried to double click on the drive or opening any drive it opened in a new window. In some cases, when your drive is infected with this Autorun.inf virus, you won’t be able to access the drive completely. You have to browse the drive by Exploring it i.e; Ctrl+E keys from the keyboard.

Sometimes ever you will not be able to see hidden files even if you have Show hidden files Enabled under Folder Options. well, this are all the wonders of this Autorun.inf virus.

I am going to show you this rare method of removing Autorun.inf manually using just winrar application, not any antivirus or malware programs.

How to Turn off or remove “Your computer might be at risk” in Windows XP?

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Anu

I recently reformatted my computer because it was running slow and after installing all updates and programs, I started getting that annoying message that started in Windows XP SP2, which is:

Your computer might be at risk. Antivirus software might not be installed.

It’s fine if you don’t know how to use a computer or forget to install something, but if you know what you are doing, then this nagging popup message is useless. So how can you turn off that message? Here’s how!

1: Open the Control Panel and click on Security Center.

2: Now on the item(s) that are in red, either Firewall, Automatic Updates, or Virus Protection, click on the double arrow that is pointing down and click on Recommendations.

3: At the bottom, click on the checkbox that says “I have an antivirus program that’ I’ll monitor myself” and then click OK.

Note that you can do this for the “Firewall is not turned on” and “Automatic updates is not turned on” popup messages also. You can also simply click on the Change the way Security Center alerts me link at the left in Windows Security Center.

change the way security center alerts me

Now just un-check what you do not want monitored anymore and you won’t get the “Your computer might be at risk” message again!

That’s it! Pretty simple eh? Of course, you should make sure you do have some kind of anti virus program installed and a firewall also. Keeping Automatic Updates on is pretty smart too! Enjoy!

Funny VBScript Trick: What Sex Is Your Windows Computer?

Monday, February 07, 2011

Anu

Your Windows computer can be either amale or female. To find that out, just create a simple VBScript withone line of code that calling Microsoft Speech API function,SAPI.SpVoice, to hear its voice from text-to-speech (TTS) engine.

I learned this from Facebook and for those who are interested, give 20 seconds to this audible screencast:

Now, turn the speaker volume to louder and do it yourself, by following the visual guide or these written instructions:

1) Open Notepad and type this (or copy and paste):

CreateObject("SAPI.SpVoice").Speak "I like PCTipsbyAnu.TK"

2) Press CTRL+S (or File menu then Save As), change the “Save As Type” from Text documents (*.txt) to All files (*.*).

3) In the File name text box, type a file name ended with .vbs file extension – this is to ask Notepad to save it as a VBScript file.

4) Double click the VBS file and you should hear voice from thecomputer – by then you will know the sex of your Windows computer

Thanks....

Create A Huge File

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Anu

You can create a file of any size using nothing more than what's supplied with Windows. Start by converting the desired file size into hexadecimal notation.
You can use the Windows Calculator in Scientific mode do to this. Suppose you want a file of 1 million bytes. Enter 1000000 in the calculator and click on the Hex option to convert it (1 million in hex is F4240.) Pad the result with zeroes at the left until the file size reaches eight digits—000F4240.

Now open a command prompt window. In Windows 95, 98, or Me, you can do this by entering COMMAND in the Start menu's Run dialog; in Windows NT 4.0, 2000, or XP enter CMD instead. Enter the command DEBUG BIGFILE.DAT and ignore the File not found message. Type RCX and press Enter. Debug will display a colon prompt. Enter the last four digits of the hexadecimal number you calculated (4240, in our example). Type RBX and press Enter, then enter the first four digits of the hexadecimal size (000F, in our example). Enter W for Write and Q for Quit. You've just created a 1-million-byte file using Debug. Of course you can create a file of any desired size using the same technique.
